Novatel Beijing Xin Qiao

In 2009 and 2010 I stayed at the Novatel Beijing Xin Qiao three times.
It's a typical Novatel with all the extras!
The hotel is just up the road (walking distance) from Tiananmen Square, and a cab fare of around $US4 from the famous Pearl Markets.
Like any where else in China the staff at the Novatel are friendly and very accommodating.

The rooms were comfortable, and as I stayed on the 13th or 15th floors I had access to the exclusive bar and dining areas. "Happy hour" at 5pm meant free everything.

Food in the main dining room was adequate in quality. Certainly not bad, but I wouldn't visit the hotel just for the food.
The only western TV stations were CNN and a Singapore news channel. The rest was typical local Chinese TV. And if you want to watch a video in your room, then you are still paying western prices of around $10 per movie.

But hey, I'm in China and experiencing the culture.
Overall, it's a convenient and relatively inexpensive hotel. You would pay the same for an average motel in US or Australia, but you get so much more at the Novatel.
Worth another visit.
